What is the ROI?

What does digital marketing actually bring to the table for a successful business? A lot more than people give it credit for.

Digital marketing often gets this weird reputation for being a magic wand. People assume that as soon as they hire someone to handle their socials or create campaigns, they’ll suddenly become the next big thing, rolling in millions of followers, viral TikToks, and a customer base that’s throwing money at them. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that’s not how it works. Not every business is going to be Monzo or Ryanair- and that’s okay.

So, what does digital marketing actually do? It’s about creating credibility and building trust. We’re the ones laying the foundation for your brand’s reputation. When a potential customer stumbles across your business, the first thing they’ll do is check you out online. What’s your website like? Are you active on social media? Do you look professional, approachable, and trustworthy? Or do you look like you’re still figuring out how to post a photo on Instagram? These things matter.

Think of digital marketing as the polished shoes you wear to a big meeting or the immaculate suit you pick for an important interview. It’s not about deception or “faking it till you make it”- it’s about showing up as the best version of yourself so that people take you seriously. And that’s where the real value lies.

It’s not just about pretty pictures and witty captions (though those definitely help); it’s about being consistent and present in your audience’s lives. Because let’s face it, in the construction industry, the decision to buy something rarely happens on the spot. It’s a slow burn. Your potential customer might see a post on LinkedIn, scroll past an ad on Instagram, and hear about you from a friend. Weeks, maybe even months later, when they actually need what you’re offering, guess whose name pops into their head? Yours. That’s not luck; that’s digital marketing doing its job.

Of course, the story doesn’t end there. Digital marketing also plays a massive role in educating your audience. Not everyone will know why your product or service is valuable, and they shouldn’t have to piece it together themselves. We create content that answers their questions before they even know they have them. We’re like the friendly tour guide who makes sure everyone understands what’s going on without ever making them feel stupid for asking.

Your marketing doesn't guarantee immediate ROI. That’s on your sales team and how you position your product or service. Digital marketing opens the door, makes your business look good, and creates the perfect environment for conversion, but it’s up to you to close the deal. If your product is amazing and your customer experience is up to scratch, you’ll see the returns.

Now, about those fireworks. Yes, it’s possible to achieve the high-impact results that some agencies promise, but here’s the catch... They’re often short-lived and very expensive. It’s like going all out on a fireworks display- a spectacular show that everyone oohs and ahhs at, but it’s over in a flash. Unless you have the budget to keep setting off those fireworks night after night, you’re left in the dark once the show’s over.

Digital marketing isn’t about chasing fireworks; it’s about lighting candles. Warm, consistent, and reliable. The kind of glow that lasts long after the initial spark. They might deliver, but it’ll come at a high cost and isn’t sustainable unless you’re willing to pour endless resources into it.

The impact of digital marketing isn’t always instant, but it’s meaningful. It builds the kind of brand loyalty that lasts, the kind of relationships that turn casual browsers into lifelong advocates. So, the next time you’re thinking about what digital marketing actually brings to the table, remember, that we’re not here to make you famous overnight. We’re here to help you show up authentically and make sure that when people think of your industry, they think of you.
